The passing of a renowned production designer, Pat Nebo, has been greeted with sad reactions and tributes. A movie journalist and arts administrator, Shaibu Husseini, shared the news of Nebo’s death on X on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
He posted the deceased’s picture with the caption, “I have been reliably informed that foremost Nigerian production designer, Pat Nebo, has passed on. He has been bedridden for a while now. Journey well, master of the craft of film production design.”
Paying tributes to him, filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, posted pictures of Nebo on Instagram on Thursday, and wrote, “You will forever be (a) part of me. Rest on champ.”
Reacting to Afolayan’s post, actor, Kunle Remi said, “My goodness! Rest in peace.” On her part, actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie wrote, “Oh my God, rest on sir.”
Nebo dedicated three decades of his life to the film industry from 1993 up till 2023. Among his works as a production designer are ‘Arugba,’ ‘Being Mrs Elliot,’ ‘The Figurine’, ‘Phone Swap,’ ‘October 1,’ ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun,’ and ‘’76.’
Also, an actress, Cindy Amadi, who is known for her role in the lesbian-themed movie titled, “Ife”, has passed away. Her demise was confirmed by the producers of the movie on Thursday, September 14, 2023, via a post on Instagram.
The post read, “We are greatly, deeply, and unbelievably saddened to learn about the passing of Cindy Amadi, who played Adaora in Ifé the movie.
“We cannot begin to imagine the pain and loss her family feels right now. On behalf of our entire cast and crew, we send our deepest condolences to her family and wish them all the comfort they need at this time.
“Rest in peace, Cindy. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. We will always remember you and you live on in our hearts forever.”
Omowunmi, the wife of actor, Olalekan Olatunji, also passed on during the week. Sharing the news of her demise on Thursday in a series of posts, Olatunji posted a video of her dancing with the caption, “You accepted me the way I was 16 years ago. You taught me how to be closer to God and be focused. I have put my trust in God that you are going to train my kids for me because of my health. Omowunmi Olatunji, be checking on us because I am very weak. I will forever love you. My engine room is gone.”
Entertainers who have condoled with him include Tope Alabi, Toyin Adegbola, aka Toyin Tomato, Wunmi Toriola and Funke Ayinkeade.
